Halloween Things

The days fly when I have my kids. I start to get sad on Friday because it goes too fast and I know they will be gone in a flash. I just try to be present and enjoy the time that I have with them. Corbin and Gabby both have some bad grades in a few of their classes. I have to get on them to make sure they keep their grades up. Corbin is in several advanced classes and he doesn't ever study so we will see how that goes. He might have to learn how to study some day. Gabby just tends to have a more relaxed approach than me when it comes to late work. I watch Powerschool pretty closely. Haha. Kids! 

We had a good weekend. Corbin and I bailed on our 10K. We did not train over the summer. We went on a few runs and Corbin does not have the stamina or drive and I don't have the stamina or drive to make him do it. Trying to get a teenager up early enough during the summer before it's too hot, forget about it! I thought we would have a good time walking and jogging it but not enough to actually follow through. I was having an outdoor movie night with friends and I didn't want to go to bed late and get up super early and I didn't' want to miss out. In the past when I've competed in a race like that I go to a thrift store and buy warm clothes that I can ditch at the starting line. I forgot to do that and it would have been so cold and miserable in the morning and none of it felt worth it. Maybe we will sign up again next year, and maybe we won't! I took the kids to Jump Time today for a belated Piper birthday celebration. Corbin didn't want to go and I was okay with that, it saved me some money. The other kids had a great time. We put up our Halloween things during the weekend. I won't have them next weekend and I would rather put them up early than late. I love Halloween! The house looks cute!

Quinton and Stephanie stopped by to check on the house. I cleaned it extra so they could see what a great home we have here. I'm trying to manifest that they sell me their rental. Gabe two weeks ago yelled at Quinton (he has that loving, joking type of relationship with him) "Sell Mitzi your house!" Haha. So consider it out there... I will keep crossing my fingers and toes.

Update

My house smells so good right now! My kids love pumpkin chocolate chip cookies and they are coming home in a few hours so I am making them cookies. A week is such a long time. It is much easier now that I'm working than during the summer but still. Work is good. I'm really liking my classes and it's so nice not teaching something new. I score volleyball games when I don't have my kids to earn some extra money. I have to teach my first learning lead meeting after school on Wednesday and I'm not looking forward to that. Haha. It should be fine, the group of teachers assigned to my group are nice and chill so it will be okay. 

Christy invites me over for dinner all of the time when I don't have my kids. I was at their house every night last week. We eat dinner and watch Jeopardy and then I go home. She also hired me to tutor Benett which is awesome. Christy is THEE most generous person I know. 

This past weekend I went to my first BSU game with my friend Tawnya who is a BIG fan. Luckily it wasn't a game she cared about so we just talked until halftime and then she treated me to lunch. Perfect! Haha. That night my friend Shelly came over to watch a scary movie with me. She is also going through a divorce so we can commiserate. Well, that's all.

Piper's Birthday

The past couple of weeks have been good. I am still enjoying my job this year a lot. I don't have to spend a lot of time planning and I've gotten better at grading less things. It's still a tiring job though. I was cooked Wednesday and Thursday after school and I just had to take it easy. I'm doing lunch duty to make some extra money and it hasn't been bad but it makes it so I go go go when I'm at work. I'm also a learning lead to earn some extra money. I feel a little intimated by the other leads that have been teaching forever and I've been teaching for a hot second. It doesn't really matter though, I will go to the meetings and put in the work so that's what really matters. Plus I do have my Master's and my 30 extra professional development credits so there! Haha. I celebrated Piper's birthday this past weekend since she was at her dad's on her birthday. Piper was sick with a cold so we postponed the activities and I just made her special birthday food. We had lasagna and cake Saturday night and we had crepes for breakfast this morning. The next time the kids are with me we will do some birthday things like go to jump time or something that Piper wants to do. Piper is 12! She loves rats and rat shirts. She feels meh about 6th grade. She loves animals and colors. She is happy and fun to be around. She's the best!
