Utah Visit

This past week was parent-teacher conference week. I had to stay late Tuesday and Wednesday night. I was so tired and burned out for work on Thursday. Luckily a teacher helped me come up with a brilliant lesson plan 5 minutes to the bell on Thursday. I could not think of anything I wanted to do. I didn't have any drama with any parents. I always wonder if something will come up. Luckily most parents aren't overly concerned with their child's progress in Teen Living.

I didn't bother to make appointments with Corbin or Gabby's teachers. They have too many teachers. I can check PowerSchool every day if I want to check on their progress. I figure if they are having behavior issues in class the teacher would let me know. Corbin and Gabby are both doing well. Piper and Ryan are doing well too. They are either grade level or above grade level. Piper has a 7th grade level in literature. I have no idea how. She never reads!

The kids didn't have school Thursday or Friday because of conferences and I didn't have school on Friday so we decided to head to Utah for our annual October trip. We left around 4:30 on Thursday. On Friday we went to Carole's house for Hannah's birthday party. After that, we headed up to Lagoon for Frightmares. It was SO crowded. Had we not prepaid for our tickets I would have turned around at the gate when we pulled up. We didn't even try to go on any of the good rides because the lines were so long. It was not my favorite. The weather was very nice and the trees looked beautiful. I also enjoyed a yummy caramel apple and hot chocolate. I think despite the lines the kids still had a good time. On Saturday Scott and I met up with a cousin for a visit. After that, I was able to go to lunch with my college bestie Jenny. She happened to be in Utah this past weekend too! Yay! That evening we headed back to Carole's cute house in Day Break for taco soup and a movie. It was a good day! Today Nana made a delicious birthday brunch for a combined Hannah and Ryan birthday celebration. Now we are headed home and I'm writing my blog post using the hot spot on my phone. I love that I am finishing this on my drive so I don't have to worry about it later. Woot!

Currently, I am applying to get into Governor's Western University to get my master's degree. I thought I would give myself a break but I finished my class on Friday and by Saturday I was like I am NOT waiting. I don't want to put something off that I want to get. Might as well do it now. GWU is self-paced and you pay by semester, not credit. A  couple of teachers at my school got their master's degree for $3,600 in 6 months. This is my goal. I don't know if it's realistic for me but I"m going to give it a go. I"m hoping to start in December. Fingers crossed!

Hannah's birthday party had face painting.

Cute face-painted girls. Gabby...yikes!

Ryan and me on the dragon.

Carole's cute Harry Potter house.

Ryan LOVES dogs!
