Hit a Wall

I hit a wall this past week with WGU. I was so burned out and tired. It made me have a mental block. I had to take a break which was hard for me to do. I am ahead and I know I have time and I need to take breaks when I get burned out like that so I did. It was a big week for yearbook. I had to take all of the club pictures all day on Wednesday. I had a sub for my classes. I am hoping to get caught back up on WGU this coming week since I’m pretty caught up with work stuff right now and have an easy week next week. Trying to balance all of the things is well..a balancing act. Wish me luck!

My yearbook staff. I lost two from last semester and gained two. We are small but mighty. Haha. Not really, it's mostly me. This yearbook is 80% me at least!

Gabby Band Concert

Main things from this past week...my classes...still good, praise be! I did a lot of homework everyday and pending a score on my last paper I finished another 3 credit class. I have three more classes before my capstone project. My goal is to finish up with my classes by Feb 13 and finish with my capstone project by March 14th. We will see. Other than that the little three got their first Covid vaccine shot and Gabby had a band concert on Thursday. It snowed crazy hard for a few hours on Thursday. I got my first mammogram that day and turned in my paperwork to get my FCS endorsement. Alright well, January is getting closer and closer to being over with. Always a victory in my mind. That's all!

Piper bought glasses that allow her to watch a screen while lying down. HAHA!

New Kids, New Semester, New Subject

This last week was pretty good. Tiring, but good. I am hoping I can settle into my crazy schedule so I can sleep better. I get amped up because of all the things and it doesn't help with my sleeping. I started teaching Teen 2 on Monday and I have a new schedule and new classes. I have a lot of the same students and a lot of new students. So far it seems that my classes are MUCH better. Last semester 4th and 6th period were bad and academic support was bad too. My students overall seem better and my academic support class got mixed with another teacher who is better at being strict than I am. Halleluiah. It's nice! I don't enjoy the subject matter of Teen 2 as well and I don't have as much experience or lesson plans for it either. I will need to spend quite a bit of time on it. It overwhelms me and I just have to plan day to day and one task at a time. WGU is going good. I just turned in my last assignment for course D184. If I pass it I will have finished another 3 credit class. This one took me a week. After I pass this class I will be at 15 credits earned. Woot!

I've been working on my FCS endorsement. I got the letter I've been waiting for! Now I just need to submit my stuff to the state. I'm so happy!

Utah Visit

It’s been a good week. The kids went back to school on Monday. It was so nice to have them back to school but not have to be at work. I did a lot of WGU homework. I think I will be able to finish my master’s in 4 months. We will see. I also have a ton of work to do for the yearbook in the next two months so maybe not. Regardless, my 6-month goal seems very achievable at this point which is exciting. I find the program to be a bit addicting. I love when I turn in a task and pass it on the first try. Sometimes I must do some additional work but every time I pass a task, I get a rush of adrenaline and it makes me ready to knock out another task. I am waiting for my 4th task results on this latest course. If I pass on the first try, I will have finished a three-credit class in 4 days…addicting!  (Update...I did pass...woot!)

We pulled the kids out of school for Thursday and Friday so we could visit Scott’s family. We couldn’t go before since I was on jury duty last week. Unfortunately, it’s finals for our kids so maybe not the best time to leave school. Oops. Oh well. We had a good time in Utah. The kids love seeing their cousins, Nana and Papa, and Colie and Rustin. Scott and I went to a late Spiderman movie Thursday night. I had a very loud nap for about 45 minutes. I was so tired. I woke up at just the right moment and really enjoyed the last 45 minutes. There are too many action sequences in those movies for me anyway. I’m good with missing 45 minutes. On Friday night we went and hung out at Carole’s house in Daybreak in South Jordan. The kids ran around and played hard in Carole’s basement. I discovered that Carole lives .4 miles from my cousin Brooke. It turns out she was having a sister’s weekend, so I popped over and hung out with them for a few hours on Friday night. It was super fun to hang out with my cousins, most of whom I haven’t seen in over 20 years.

Now I need to get ready to plan for the week I am starting a new semester, so I have a chance for a fresh start. Some of my classes were terrible last semester. It’s always nice to change it up and get another chance to figure things out and do better and be better.  Alright, well that’s all!

Hart cousins! Brooke and Shelley were the only Hart cousins I really hung out with when I was growing up.

Yesterday was pretty warm for January. The kids and fun adults (not me) went out and played tag.

Corbin's Birthday and a Happy New Year!

What a great break! This last week has been SO good! I was on jury duty but luckily I just had to call in every day and  I never had to report downtown. Holla! Monday was Corbin's birthday. I didn't feel like we could make plans ahead of time because I wasn't sure if I would be on jury duty. We had a special breakfast and later in the day Corbin last-minute invited three of his friends to come over and they hung out all day and had a great time. Gabby got braces on Monday as well. Weird! On Wednesday I took the kids to jump time. On Friday we met up with cousins and went rollerblading in Nampa. It was fun and the kids had a good time. For New Year's Eve, we had a ton of yummy snacks and played games all night. We had a countdown to midnight with some minute to win it games every hour. We played other games in between. It was great! I took down Christmas stuff on New Year's Day We didn't do much. Scott and I went to a movie and I watched a Disney movie with the kids that night. I am missing my Christmas stuff big time! The kids go back to school tomorrow but I don't start work until the 10th. I am so excited to have an extra week to lesson plan and work on WGU. Woot!
