Spring Break Continued

It's been kind of a crazy spring break. I've tried to rest here and there but I have a lot of stress with WGU and I couldn't fully relax. The good part of that is I got a lot done. I turned in task 2 last Saturday night and I didn't want to work too much on task 3 if I was on the wrong track. That gave me three days of nervous energy. I painted my green accent wall and painted an old dresser I bought months ago. Luckily I passed task 2. Yay! I had to get to work on task 3. I am waiting to see if I passed. I'm on pins and needles. I need to wait 1 more hour...I digress. I took the kids to Pojos one day and we hung out outside a bit every day. The weather was NICE during spring break! My co-worker Janet had a new grand baby born last week. It was a stressful situation where her daughter had to be in the hospital for 5 days with roller coaster blood pressure. The baby came 4 weeks early. She's SO tiny. I drove to Emmett to take them some dinner on Wednesday morning. My sisters and my mom came to town to help me paint my room. It went so fast with extra help. We hung out and chatted between coats. It was fun. I'm glad they were able to come and help me. It feels good to have our king bed with fresh paint. Yay! Today I have been working on task 4 and lesson planning and resting, I'm getting geared up to go back to work tomorrow.

I am still very close to being able to finish my master's this semester. It might not happen still but it could. I've been working very hard all spring break, I hope it pays off. Until next week...

Kelsey's baby Beckham was happy being lugged around like a sack of potatoes. He's such a cute chill baby. Love him!

Piper being silly.

Gabby babysat and  Beckham fell asleep in her lap. Cutest!

Spring Break

Huzzah for spring break! March has been a rough month. I've been counting down the days to spring break for awhile! I was able to put away the sewing machines on Friday. That was a happy day. Teaching a class full of students how to sew for four hours straight is incredibly taxing in every way. By this last week it wasn't as bad. After two weeks they sort of had it. That was nice! I had my big observation on Tuesday. The lesson went great I thought, but my scores were just okay. I can't decide if I should be upset about it or not. I got mostly proficient scores and a few distinguished. I mean if I have all distinguished than I can only go down and/or have to be perfect forever so maybe being good enough is well...good enough.

With WGU I finally passed my first task on my final class. I have been actively trying to pass it for a month. It's been disheartening, but I finally passed...huzzah. I turned in task two yesterday. We will see if it takes me a month to pass task 2. Ha. Now I need to try to read a bunch of terrible long scientific articles and write a literary review, which is something I've never done, and I am dreading big time. Wish me all the luck.

I wanted to do something fun for spring break so we went to Givens Hot Springs (an hour drive away) last night after I turned in my paper. The water is so nice! The place is a little dumpy but I don't care, I grew up swimming in a ditch and the water is WARM! Today I've had to take a break from WGU so I'm starting my painting project even though my sisters and mom are coming to help me on Thursday. I want to do the accent wall by myself. I'm too picky and even if I can't do it perfectly at least the mistakes will be mine.

Well this spring break I am painting my bedroom (with some help) trying to do WGU, trying to rest, and trying to do a few fun things with the kids.

Gabby had to register for her 7th grade classes and she had to pick her two electives. OMG! The amount of tears and the back and forth trying to decide. It about did me in. Parenting, am I right?

Scott didn't get accepted into the ISU program which surprised us, so who knows what he will decide to do.

Corbin and Gabby had a sleepover, they are both friends with siblings so that worked out. Corbin is still chill as ever. Gabby manages to be a ball of stress most nights trying to do her homework or whatever. Oy! Piper has decided she wants to try to take dancing again next year so she is stretching out on the yoga mat. To quote Ryan, "I'm a little obsessed with Japanese culture." Um okay. So that's the deal over at the Cannon household.

Practicing some stretches and moves. Wowza.

A little light reading.

Givens!

Gabby's late night starry night assignment.

It's hard to read but Piper left a very cute note to the leprechaun a leprechaun? Telling him that she was sorry she didn't build a house yet and promising  that she will make it and that she tried. She still hasn't made it and also why in the heck is she making it? Where do these ideas come from and when did everything become a thing? I can't keep up.

Gabby made a homework fort one night.

Stress Express

I am currently in bed typing this blog post. I'm crazy tired and burned out. I had a near mental breakdown this past week. I am at the end of my master's and I'm struggling and I'm tired. I took Thursday off to do research for my paper. I worked all day and had a conversation with my mentor and after talking with her I felt I was going in the wrong direction again. I couldn't handle it. I was so worked up I didn't sleep all night and had to go to work the next day. I decided I have to push the finish line out. I cannot mentally handle the pressure of struggling and trying to figure it out while under the gun of a tight schedule. I am letting go of my original goal of being done in 6 months. I  am now just focussing on finishing my last class and focussing on doing the tasks correctly rather than within X amount of days. There could still be a miracle and I could finish but I have to let that go. I'm SPENT! I love hard goals and I want a pay raise in August but it's not worth it. So I am trying to deal with the disappointment of giving up on my goal but also trying to just keep moving forward and finish. This is hard and terrible.

I can't wait until spring break. I only have one more week with students on the sewing machine. I can do it! In better news, I finished the yearbook on Monday. That is a huge thing off of my plate. We also got our bed and mattress and sheets. Scott built it yesterday. It needs a box spring. We had to order it on amazon. The bed looks pretty dumb right now because the mattress is so low. We are painting my room over spring break. I can't wait to have a new room. Well, that's all!

Ryan made a fox routine. I could go for a fox routine right about now.

He also made a rabbit routine.

New bed.

Piper's star of the week wall.

Gabby had another band concert. She loves to pull faces at me while I try to take a picture.

BYE 21-22 yearbook!

A No Good Very Bad Week

This last week was pretty terrible. I got my results from my paper on Monday and I failed. I started panicking about my timeline and I sent my mentor a distressed email. She called me immediately. She reassured me and told me there was some flexibility on the time line. That was a relief but I think I'm going to be a hot mess this whole month until I finish this last class. This class is setting me up for my final project and will be part of the final project. It's good they are being picky now so I can get it right and not fail my final project but still...ugh. I talked with my professor on Tuesday and it was helpful and I got my project redirected. I turned in my paper again and got my results today and failed AGAIN. I haven't struggled this much since my first paper. Every day matters. UGH! I will probably get it all done but I might not. Luckily worst case scenario (I think), I don't finish this class in time and I have to extend to June and pay tuition again and finish in June. Please bless I get this figured out. This month is going to suck.

I also started my sewing machine unit. It is a personal kind of hell to teach a class full of 8th graders how to use a sewing machine. I have to be SO patient and they touch all the settings and mess everything up and then jam parts in the machine wrong and break needles constantly. IT IS HARD! Oy! We made it through week 1. 2 MORE WEEKS TO SPRING BREAK!

The yearbook is due in two days. I've been click, click, clicking on the pages trying to finish and make them better. I'm actually not stressed about yearbook. It is what it is. I can only do so much. Considering everything I think it's pretty good.

Family update: Scott applied to ISU to get into their counseling program. He hasn't heard back yet. I am not looking forward to being poor students again. It will be worth it when it's done.

Corbin: Not much, he seems to have no homework and straight A's. He does the dinner dishes every night.

Gabby: She does hours of homework every night! I don't get it. What the what? She's in 6th grade. She also got her bottom braces.

Piper: She was star student last week. Her teacher wrote her the NICEST note.

Ryan: He is SO quirky. He wears on average 8 shirts a day. He is always pretending to be some type of animal...red panda, racoon, Norwegian wolf, coyote, wolverine, Alaskan malamutes (Siberian husky breed), Pomeranian,  silver fox, red fox, arctic fox, gray fox, fisher cat, Persian cats, Russian blue cat,  American short hair, European short hair, (Siamese birman cats), what the what? The list goes ON AND ON AND ON.

"Mom, guess what breed of animal I am?" Uhhhh I can't even! Tonight he is a Pomeranian his favorite dog breed. I said, "I should have known that" he said, "ya, cuteness Gods."

Well that's all. Wish me ALL THE LUCK!

So many shirts!

So sweet, what a great teacher...and a great PIPER!
