Making it Work Greenhouse

It is currently snowing outside. I am so ready for spring! Work was good ish. Wednesday was not great but luckily the rest of the week was okay to good. Teaching Junior High is no joke. I am very seriously looking into a high school job. The FCS teacher at Capital (less than 2 miles from my house) is retiring in one more year. I think I will apply for that job for sure. Sometimes I'm not sure about teaching FCS, it's so much work! I spend a lot of time at the grocery store and fabric store and cutting fabric and all of the things! Anyway my students turned in their children's book and overall I was happy! My hard work getting a specific rubric and creating an example paid off! I spent some time this weekend doing the same thing to my felt monster rubric and making an example. We start machine sewing tomorrow...send me all of the good vibes.

Scott has been busy building a greenhouse this weekend. He is fitting it between the shed and the fence. I will be very curious how it turns out and how well it works. Our yard is not the best for intense gardening. I really hope we get out backyard figured out, it's basically all dirt now. Boo. Well that's all.

Corbin asked to switch from the top bunk and Ryan was happy to switch.

We got Goody's ice cream last weekend down by my work. It's yummy!

My homework over the weekend.

Scott is building a small greenhouse. In the back corner of the yard. I'll be curious how it turns out!

He had to trim up the tree.

Piper's not feeling great but cute Charly is giving her some emotional support.

Cutest pup!

The sewing machines are out. Let it begin!

Ryan likes to hide under my desk for some reason...

Utah Cannon's Visit

Nana and Papa and Colie and Rustin came for the long weekend and Gabby's birthday as per tradition. They came up Friday night. They are staying at a very nearby Air B&B which has been nice and fun for the kiddos. Lots of gaming, puzzling, and eating are happening over here. These guys do a great job spoiling my kids and making them feel special.

I had a coffee date with an old co-worker. I think I talked her into getting her Master's at WGU. We were para's at Centennial together before Covid hit. Now she has her teaching degree and works at Victory Middle School. It was fun to catch up with her.

I will be busting out the sewing machines at school in one week. I'm nervous about that. This will be the first time I will try to have all of the students on the machines at once. It should be an adventure. They will be finishing up their children's stories this week. I am nervously anticipating that. I think I will be equal parts happy and disappointed. Haha. I just want my students to care about their work!

There was an extra bed at the Air B&B. Gabby taking it all in!

Cute!

Corbin has been beating Scott at chess. Corbin is SO smart!

These girls had an adventure in Eagle.

Jumanji game...

Chick-fil-A

The Valentine Rascal brought presents!

Coffee date with Nicole.

I made buckets of treats. I could eat both of these by the bucket full! Cinnamon bear popcorn and  white chocolate almond puffs...salty sweet goodness.

The librarian taught my students for a day teaching them all about the importance of reading in child development. It was good!

If I am feeling very brave I will attempt to have my students make this bag at school...

Newish Minivan & Gabby's Almost 13th Birthday

We bought a newish van! I have been searching online for several weeks for a new minivan. We even drove to Oregon to check one out. On Wednesday we went to a dealer five minutes from our house and they had our exact year and model of our current van but it had almost 100,000 less miles and was much nicer looking. Whoever owned the van must not have had any kids. The inside and outside both look brand new even though it's 16 years old. So we bought it! We posted our old van online for sale and we sold it in less than 12 hours. Someone from Arkansas is sending people to come drive it to him. I hope it makes it!

We celebrated Gabby's birthday today since it's tomorrow. We had special breakfast and dinner. Other than that we didn't do much. We will celebrate it more when Scott's family come visit next weekend. I  spent hours writing a children's book today. It was so hard. Haha. It's an assignment I'm giving my students so I wanted to create an example. Read it and weep. Haha.

McCall!

School was pretty chill last week and it was nice! I did stay after school twice to sell concessions for FCCLA and that was annoying and too much. I will try to stick to once a week and be done when basketball season is over later this month. I had a parent volunteer come in and share her recipe and help us cook for the day. It worked out well other than she didn't give me the recipe until the day before and I had to scramble to adapt the recipe for small groups and time restraints, get the ingredients, and cook the meat for the lab. That was annoying and a little stressful but it all worked out. I think next year I will do it with different pizza toppings and do the lab around Halloween because I think the braided bread looks kind of like a mummy. This week a parent is coming in to cook won tons with us. We will see how it goes.

My brother Gabe bought a big cabin in McCall last year and he invited us to come up for the weekend. The timing was nice because I'm ahead with work and I didn't have any grading or lesson planning to worry about. He also invited my brother Alex and his family. We arrived Friday night and we played games, watched movies, ate food, went in the hot tub, and checked out the ice sculptures. It was a GREAT weekend. We left early enough for us to come home and get ready for next week. We left Corbin and Charly home. I asked 4 friends to watch Charly and nobody could. Corbin was sick and didn't want to go anyway so we let him stay and left Charly with him. We had to cuddle Christy's dog Teddy to help fill the Charly void.

This is humpty dumpty I think.

Puss n Boots.

Terrible picture quality but we are behind the dragon. Ha.

Skier Flip

Mermaid? Angel?

Cute Teddy, we had to pet him a bunch.

I am TERRIBLE at pool.

Ryan snuck into a neighbor's yard to steal a giant icicle. Nice pose!
